Players

We currently have 8 players who participate regularly in our extreme croquet events. There are several others who will play a game or two, but until they play consistently, they will not earn their way into the database.

Austin 'Pizza Boy' Simmons

'Pizza Boy' has come a long way in recent years, overcoming struggles with his croquet game, when coming dead last in every game he participated in was common place. However, he has shown increasingly frequent moments of brilliance, often sprinting through multiple wickets in one turn, as if possessed. He has stood on the winners platform enough times to be legit, so players keep a watchful eye on him (if only to ensure he didn't accidentally kick the ball into a better position).

Brian

Brian has dominated the croquet scene for as long as he can remember, and has become somewhat of an extreme croquet celebrity in Roswell. Although he's constantly in the cross-hairs of his opponents in every game, he's usually in the thick of the chase, usually finishing first or second. His lanky frame, well-adjusted contact lenses, and propensity for two-turners makes him the most feared player on the course, year-in and year-out.

Chris 'The Dude' Naess

The Dude is back!  After a several year hiatus researching Tibetan and other eastern croquet methods in the mountains, The Dude returned for 2006 with a whole new approach to croquet, and usually makes an appearance around Christmas.  Nerves won't be a problem for The Dude when crunch-time comes, because he plays in a Zen state.  But don't discount his competitiveness, as The Dude only finds Inner Peace in the winner's circle.

George 'The Sissy' Gonzalez

Sissy, the proud owner of a brand new extreme croquet mallet has proven just how important equipment can be to croquet success. For years, Sissy struggled to even reach the other side of the driveway, but with his new mallet, Sissy managed to pull in a first place in 2008. The extreme croquet crew looks forward to many more years of competition from Sissy!

Harold 'Dirty Harry' Hochsteter

'Dirty Harry', an engineer by trade, has led the development team in the innovation and design of our equipment. While his contributions off the pitch are commendable, his game on the pitch has declined noticeably in recent years. It wasn't uncommon, a few years ago, to see him standing on the winners platform several times per holiday, but these days, he seems content just to finish second. He's a streaky player, and like Popeye and his spinach, seems to draw strength and inspiration from glühwein.

John 'The Professor' Love

'The Professor', a solid, consistent player, is usually in the lead pack and has won his fair share of matches. His deliberate, calculated swing and thoughtful play makes him a formidable opponent and earned him his nickname, yet his insistence on wearing Chaco sandals during the game keeps him from sending players very far. One of his patented maneuvers is to clear out the pine straw before his turn and pile it in a place that happens to interfere with players behind him.

Mark 'Beerhands' Lewis

After watching the action and studying T-Mo's technique, Ol' Beerhands finally got the courage to pick up a mallet this past season and play a game or two. Though he has started extremely slow (often not even making it to the other side of the driveway before first place finishes), he did manage to eek out a third place finish and get his name on the internet. Hailing from a small fishing village in northern Maine, he naturally spent most of his life lobstering. The repeated exposure to cold winters and lobster claws has taken its toll on his swing. But, with his familiarity with kegs and other beer-holding vessels, a sack full of excuses, and his son nearby to blame for all his bad shots, Beerhands looks to climb the ranks to the top of the Extreme Croquet elite.

Tyson 'T-Mo' Simmons

'T-Mo', an aspiring free-style rappa and professional Texas Hold 'Em poker player, has enjoyed limited success in holiday croquet. He has the talent and the ability to take first, but often struggles with the urge to knock balls in the lake, which more times than not, ends up a costly strategy. Nevertheless, 'T-Mo' is usually in the thick of things, and can be counted on to round up his homies if need be.

'T-Mo' was bequeathed from Madeleine's grandmother, Harriet Peake, a one-of-a-kind, custom-made mallet from New Zealand. It's a beautiful mallet, with a long, square head and dark stained wood.
